About the Registry
Immunization registries are computerized information systems
that collect vaccination histories and help ensure correct and
timely immunizations, especially for children. BARR can help parents
and physicians to protect Bay Area children from serious illnesses
like measles, whooping cough, polio, and meningitis. The information
in the Bay Area Regional Immunization Registry is confidential
and secure. Only authorized members may review it, and the information
will not be given to any other person or group.
States and local
communities throughout the county are developing confidential
registries with
assistance
from federal, state, and local partners. The Bay Area Regional
Immunization Registry is funded by the State of California, Department
of Health Services. Additional support funds such as County General
Funds and contributions from private partner organizations have
been secured by participating jurisdictions for the registry.
