About the Registry

Immunization registries are computerized information systems that collect vaccination histories and help ensure correct and timely immunizations, especially for children. BARR can help parents and physicians to protect Bay Area children from serious illnesses like measles, whooping cough, polio, and meningitis. The information in the Bay Area Regional Immunization Registry is confidential and secure. Only authorized members may review it, and the information will not be given to any other person or group.

States and local communities throughout the county are developing confidential registries with assistance from federal, state, and local partners. The Bay Area Regional Immunization Registry is funded by the State of California, Department of Health Services. Additional support funds such as County General Funds and contributions from private partner organizations have been secured by participating jurisdictions for the registry.

The following jurisdictions are currently participating in BARR: For current statistics on the Registry, please download the "Registry Statistics" document.
