Welcome to the Bay Area Regional
Immunization Registry
The Bay Area Regional Immunization Registry (BARR) is a confidential,
computerized information system designed to catalog and provide immediate
access to a patient’s immunization history. The registry’s
purpose is to create a consolidated immunization data source for both
public and private sectors in the Bay Area region. BARR assists providers
in tracking patient records, reducing missed opportunities, and helping
to ensure the timely immunization of children to protect them against
vaccine-preventable diseases.
The Registry:
- Keeps accurate records of immunizations, no matter where they were
given.
- Helps providers and parents determine when immunizations are
due.
- Protects patients by avoiding unnecessary duplication of immunizations.
- Provides reminders and/or recalls to let patients and providers
know when they or their patient are due or overdue for an immunization.
- Provides printouts of the California Immunization Record and
California School Blue Card.
- Tracks vaccine inventory by lot number and manufacturer.
Immunization Registries are endorsed by:
- American Academy of Pediatrics
- American Medical Association
- American Public Health Association
- California Academy of Family Physicians
- California School Nurses Organization
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

The Bay Area Immunization Registry is a member of the Statewide
Immunization Information System (SIIS), which is California's
statewide immunization registry network. Plans are currently
underway to integrate California's regional immunization registries
so that information can be exchanged through the State. |
